South African Safari
DAY 1: TORONTO – NEW YORK – JOHANNESBURG
Depart from Toronto to New York for your connecting flight to Johannesburg. Meals will be served at appropriate times and earphones will be supplied so you may enjoy the full-length movie and the many audio channels available.
DAY 2: JOHANNESBURG (D)
Arrive Johannesburg International Airport and after clearing customs and immigration, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure.
Welcome group dinner at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza or similar.
DAY 3: PETRORIA (B/L)
After breakfast at the hotel, begin your full day tour to Pretoria, including the following: city tour (historic church square), Union Buildings, Melrose House and the Voortrekker Monument where a light lunch will be enjoyed. From Pretoria we will drive back to Johannesburg via the Lesedi Cultural Village where group will stop for a visit.
DAY 4: JOHANNESBURG TO THE KRUGER NATIONAL PARK (B/D)
Early morning departure from Johannesburg. Leaving the city behind, we travel via Graskop and the authentic gold-mining village of Pilgrimsrest, where gold was discovered in 1873.
After lunch on your own, proceed to the entrance of the Kruger National Park. More than two million hectares, the Kruger boasts more than 146 mammal species, 507 bird species and 400 different tree varieties. Spend the rest of the afternoon game viewing before arriving at the Pretoriuskop, situated inside one of the park’s safe and secure rest camps. Overnight in an en-suite, air-conditioned bungalow. Dinner and overnight at Skukuza Rest Camp or similar.
DAY 5: FULL DAY INSIDE THE KRUGER (B/D)
To make the most of the day, we recommend an early breakfast so as to commence game viewing soon after sunrise. A full day game drive is undertaken in search of wild animals. A stop will be made at the Satara Rest Camp for a buffet lunch (own account). No guarantees can be given that you will encounter the “Big Five” (lion, rhino, elephant, leopard and buffalo), but you are certain of seeing, at close quarters, an abundance of antelope, birds, mammals and possibly reptiles.
Dinner and overnight at Skukuza Rest Camp or similar.
DAY 6: FULL DAY INSIDE THE KRUGER (B/D)
Buffet breakfast at Skukuza restaurant. After breakfast, check out and depart to explore the south part of Kruger National Park. Here you will have lunch (own account) and overnight at Lower Sabie Rest Camp on the banks of the Sabie River.
Dinner and overnight at the Lower Sabbie Rest Camp or similar.
DAY 7: KRUGER PARK – JOHANNESBURG (B)
Depart this massive wildlife sanctuary through the Paul Kruger Gate and drive along the National Road via Nelspruit back to Johannesburg. We will stop for a light lunch at Milly’s Restaurant (own account) in the Machadodorp area. Arrive in Johannesburg late afternoon.

DAY 8: JOHANNESBURG – GEORGE (GARDEN ROUTE) (B/D)
At approximately 06h30, buffet breakfast at the hotel. Check out of hotel and board coach at 07h30 sharp for the transfer to Johannesburg International Airport. Morning flight to George. From George we travel along the picturesque Garden Route to Keurbooms River where we will enjoy a short boat trip at Keurbooms River mouth. Lunch can be enjoyed on the boat (own account). From here it is a short ride to Wilderness area, where we will overnight . Buffet dinner is served at the Hotel’s restaurant in a designated area at 19h30.

DAY 9: FULL DAY IN THE GARDEN ROUTE (KNYSNA) (B/L)
After a leisurely breakfast you are taken to George to board the Choo Tjoe train that will take you on a winding route along the coast and the many lakes to Knysna – also known as the “Jewel of the Garden Route”. On arrival in Knysna you will board a ferry which will take you to the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Here you join a tour of the reserve, which includes lunch. Featherbed Nature Reserve is a unique 150 ha private reserve, encompassing the whole of the Western Head of Knysna and is one of South Africa’s Natural Heritage Sites. Return to the harbour and spend some time in Knysna exploring the many stalls, before you head back to your hotel, The Wilderness Beach Hotel or similar.
DAY 10: KNYSNA – OUDTSHOORN (B/L)
Depart after breakfast and travel inland along the winding Outeniqua Pass to the Ostrich capital of the world, Oudtshoorn. Here you visit a working ostrich farm for a tour at 11h00, including lunch at 12h00. Those daring enough may even have the opportunity to ride an Ostrich! After lunch, we will visit the Cango Caves at approximately 15h00 in the southern foothills of the Swartberg Mountain Range where we will explore the caves with guided rangers. The well-known formations include the 10 meter high Cleopatra’s Needle – estimated to be more than 150 000 years old. After the tour, you will board the coach for the short ride to your hotel for the night, The Oudtshoorn Hotel.
This evening enjoy a set menu dinner at Jemima’s Restaurant in Oudtshoorn (own account).
DAY 11: OUDTSHOORN – CAPE TOWN (B/D)
After breakfast we depart this interesting farming town in the Little Karoo and travel through to Robertson, where we will stop for light lunch and a wine tasting (own account) at the Café Maude on the Bon Courage Estate. After lunch we will travel onwards to Cape Town.
Evening is at leisure.
Dinner and overnight at the Holiday Inn Cape Town or similar.
DAY 12: EXPLORE THE WINELANDS (B/L)
Depart after breakfast and board your coach for a drive through vineyards to our first stop at the Afrikaans Language Monument near Paarl. From here we will have a great view of the fertile Paarl Valley. Our next stop is the KWV wine cellars for a wine tasting and cellar tour. From there we depart for the beautiful town of Franschhoek, established in 1688 by 207 French Hugenots, who fled their country because of religious persecution. We will also pass the Victor Verster Prison where Nelson Mandela was released in 1991. Lunch will be enjoyed at Franschhoek at the Bread & Wine Restaurant. Then over the Hellshoogte Pass to Stellenbosch, center of learning, rugby and the wine industry. The university town of Stellenbosch is located in the heart of South Africa’s wine country. Here we will be taken on an extensive tour of his historic town before heading back to our hotel.

DAY 13: THE MOTHER CITY – CAPE TOWN (B/L)
Today you will be taken to the lower cableway station at Table Mountain. Weather permitting, ascend the mountain by aerial cable car and from a height of 1067 meters view the city, Table Bay and Robben Island. Then a short city orientation tour, with a drive by the Parliament Buildings, the Malay Quarters (or the Bo-Kaap) and the Castle. We will also visit the National Museum, before we stop at the Cape Town Waterfront for lunch. After lunch we make our way back to the hotel.

DAY 14: FULL DAY CAPE PENINSULA TOUR (B/L/D)
This morning, we depart for a full day tour of Cape Peninsula. Highlights include a visit to the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanic Gardens, the Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach near Simonstown, Cape Point (where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans “meet”), Hout Bay fishing harbour and a beautiful drive along the Atlantic Coast. Lunch will be enjoyed en route, at the Black Marlin restaurant.
This evening, depart the hotel for a private farewell dinner, with entertainment by the Cape Malay Minstrel Group band – The Song Spinners.

DAY 15: CAPE TOWN – LONDON (HEATHROW) (B)
In the morning after breakfast you are more than welcome to spend the day at leisure for some shopping before you are collected to be transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your overnight flight to London Heathrow.
DAY 16: LONDON (HEATHROW) – TORONTO
Arrive London and connect with your flight to Toronto arriving early afternoon.
EXTENTION TO VICTORIA FALLS (PRE-TOUR) AS FOLLOWS:
Day 1: Johannesburg – Victoria Falls
Depart Johannesburg mid-morning for flight to Victoria Falls. On arrival transfer to your hotel.
Pick up around 18h00 to attend the African Spectacular Tribal Dancing.
Day 2: Victoria Falls (B)
After breakfast a guided tour of Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Walk through the magnificent rain forest where you are able to view the largest falling sheet of water in the world, Livingstone's statue and a wide variety of birds and plants followed by a visit to the craft village which offers the opportunity of seeing traditional African lifestyles and markets.

Day 3: Victoria Falls – Johannesburg (B)
After a leisurely breakfast mid-morning transfer to the airport for return to Johannesburg.
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel where you will meet with the group.
